International House World Organisation has announced that they have welcomed a new affiliate in their global network of privately owned language schools. International House Cali in Colombia is the latest addition.

Cali is the third largest city in Colombia with a population of just over 3,570,795. It’s one of the oldest cities in Colombia and the Americas.

The new community school is run by Ariel Lopez, who owns various International House schools in Mexico.

“Latin America is an important market in the language education industry and we are thrilled to have a new IH school in the enchanting city of Cali,” remarked Emma Hoyle, Managing Director of International House World Organisation. “Ariel Lopez has had had such success with his International House schools in Mexico and we are excited to see the success of this new venture in Colombia. We hope the exam preparation courses, in-business corporate language training and exam centre services of the school will be an asset to the people of Cali.”

IH Cali is concentrating on providing a range of specialist services for the community in Cali such as the provision of international exams, together with exam preparation courses designed to help students develop requisite exam techniques and skills.

The school offers IELTS preparation courses both face-to-face and online. They offer Cambridge Assessment exams mostly offsite in local schools and colleges. As well as group courses, there is also a one-to-one format for individuals who want to prepare at a specific pace. Thirdly, they offer in-company and ESP teaching. These are bespoke language training courses that take place online or face-to-face.

“Colombia and especially the city of Cali have great potential for English Language teaching, testing and teacher training,” said Ariel Lopez, Director of IH Cali. “We will be providing top-quality services to the community by providing international certification and teacher training courses. We hope IH Cali will be pivotal in developing the IH network in Colombia and Latin America.”

In-school language courses are in small groups, limited to a maximum of 15 students. The school’s courses are mostly directed at adult learners, but they also cater to under 18s through their extensive exam preparation offerings. This school offers the Cali market and surrounding region new opportunities and a reputable education brand with whom to take their international language exams.

As part of the International House network, IH Cali aims to recruit students from the Cali region who would like to follow a language course abroad. The school makes the connection between the student and the IH school where they would like to study.

The premises on Calle 14, Barrio Ciudad Jardín, include 6 classrooms, a large social area for staff and students, a peaceful garden, a computer lab and a reception area. The classrooms have state-of-the-art technology to facilitate teaching, they come equipped with computers, smart TVs and whiteboards. The purpose-built computer lab is used for Cambridge and IELTS examinations.

All students are offered a level of support that includes the option to discuss progress with teachers and/or the academic manager, as well as any other issues (well-being, further study opportunities, etc.) with the centre manager or reception staff.
